Among the many ancient farms scattered throughout Lucca’s hills (many originating during the 1500’s), Fattoria Mansi Bernardini is a particularly fertile estate when it comes to the cultivation of olives and grapes. At the beginning of the 1800’s Francesco Bernardini purchased the neighbouring estate from the Buonvisi family, joining the properties together and expanding the vineyards and olive groves. When Antonietta Bernardini married Raffaello Mansi during the last part of the 19th century, the property acquired it’s current name.
In 1980, a meticulous restoration of the estate was undertaken by the present owners, including both the Villas (Buonvisi and Bernardini) and the farmhouses. The olive oil production was also intensified – over 2,500 new trees were planted over a period of 20 years.
Today, the property successfully combines agriculture and tourism, offering first class holiday accommodations in a truly rustic setting. The estate has been restored to offer exemplary comfort while meticulously preserving its rich history. In addition, wedding receptions and private functions can also be accommodated for up to 80 guests. Everything is executed with utmost professionalism and care, while particular attention is paid to the food, using old family recipes.
